PowerPlay at Children’s Museum of Houston

PowerPlay, a 5,000 square foot permanent exhibit for children ages 5-12, has a 35-foot Power Tower climber connecting its three levels. The exhibit's sophisticated network allows visitors to check in to record their standing heart rate, gender and age and assign themselves a user name and password. As they complete the activities they can either record the level they achieved, or track their heart rate and exertion levels at eleven kiosks, or Power Trackers, throughout the exhibit. Visitors can measure their grip strength or height and weight to calculate their BMI; stretch their bodies; climb through obstacle courses or on a climbing wall; and a dozen other activities test visitors' endurance as they dance, climb, stretch or wiggle their way to a healthier self.
