Cheryl Bartholow, Principal
As ADI’s education specialist, Cheryl facilitates conversations with stakeholders and the project team, and assures that exhibits meet learning standards as well as the Museum’s vision for experiential learning.
Cheryl’s understanding of audiences and integrating learning goals into the visitor experience comes from her work as a museum educator and developer of educational programs and products. Over the past 20 years, Cheryl has directed or developed nearly 100 exhibits, program initiatives, or strategic planning efforts for institutions that were starting up, expanding, or reinventing themselves. Before joining ADI, she was the founding director of the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon education center in the country. She worked both with the national organization and the Olmsted-designed park to create exhibits that celebrate and introduce the park’s natural history to family audiences. As Vice President of Programs at Brooklyn Children’s Museum, she oversaw exhibit development and educational- and collections-based programming. Cheryl’s experience as an active participant in the day-to-day operations of urban museums and visitor centers provides a unique insight into the planning and development process.
