Exhibit concept masterplan for a new 80,000 SF facility for Minnesota's
state-designated museum of natural history.
New plans feature true-to scale, concentrated environments that
represent each of the state's three biomes, a participatory orientation
theater, diorama theaters, as well as authentic research opportunities,
and customized tours.
Visitors can walk through a bog, under the prairie, within treetops,
or over a pond. Observation and investigation activities merge to
provide visitors with new vantage points from which to understand
the diversity of Minnesota's habitats, and the species that live within.
The new Collections Core will invite visitors to use the collections as
scientists do, searching for clues and patterns to support and
illustrate the variety of viewpoints explaining the evolutionary
process.
Exterior exhibits and test landscapes encourage visitors to participate
in University of Minnesota research activities.
